Questions and Answers
Q: What materials are used in the Cellux fixture?
A: The half-sphere with the LEDs is made of 4 mm Akryl. The cone and arm are made of powder coated galvanized steel. The cone protects the half-sphere from high intensity solar rays and thereby increases its lifespan.
Q: Why is the solar panel mounted vertically?
A: The most difficult time of year for the lighting system is the months of December and January. Mounting the panels vertically keeps snow and ice off and provides a good angle for the low winter sun.
Q: What kind of guaranties does Cellux provide for the lighting system?
A: LEDs have a life span of over 100 000 hours, modern batteries can last for many years, solar panels are very long lived with a life span of around 25 years. These are however projections. Cellux provides a normal one year guarantee as our subcontractors currently provide one year guaranties on their products.
Q: Can the battery be overcharged during a sunny summer?
A: The built-in charge regulator protects the battery from overcharging
Q: We are interested in purchasing a fixture now and would naturally like to evaluate it during the darkest time of year. What is the current delivery time?
A:The current delivery time is 10 weeks from registered order. However, we do have a few fixtures in stock for immediate delivery.
Q: The solar panel is connected to the rest of the unit. Does this mean that the unit can never be installed in a north facing direction?
A: The solar panel is mounted separately from the rest of the fixture. This means that it can be vertically installed and pointed in a southernly direction without effecting the rest of the fixture. The fixture can then be installed so it correctly aligns with the road or path to be lit.
Q: Does the above mean that the unit cannot be installed on an existing post?
A: The solar panel and the rest of the fixture can be installed on an existing post, wood or steel, since they are two separate parts connected with a cable. It is important that the solar panel is installed as high as possible and vertically. The panel should point in a southernly direction +/- 40 degrees and trees and other hindrances should not block the low winter sun.
Q: What does a unit weigh and how far out from its base does it extend?
A: The fixture weighs a total of 17 kgs of which 3 kgs is the solar panel. The fixture extends 1 meter from its base.
Q: How stable is the system in high winds?
A: The projected wind surface corresponds to a standard galvanized steel post (with no maintenance opening) 110 mm at its base and 60 mm towards the top. If the 6,5 meter post is planted 0,8 m deep the fixture will manage winds of up to 28 m/s. All currently installed fixtures in Sweden survived the storm “Gudrun” that swept through during January 2005.
Q:What material is recommended for the post, steel or wood?
A: Both materials will work fine.
Q:What is the installation height for the light fixture?
A: The fixtures lowest part, the plastic half-sphere, should be 4,5 m above ground.
Q: What is the desired spacing between posts?
A: The post should be approximately 40 m apart.
Q:What is the required outer diameter of a lamppost
A: The fastening plate on the fixture is designed for a 60 mm steel post. The plate can also be screwed into a wooden post.
Q: We are members of a small organization with limited resources. Kan we pick up a fixture ourselves and if so where?
A: Fixtures can be picked up at Cellux AB, Rådjursvägen 28, Sollebrunn. Contact us for more information. Check Cellux out today!
